What is takt time

Takt time is a measure often used in lean and represents the maximum time (expressed in seconds) allowed to produce a widget/product in order to meet demand.

Production is expected to have a pace that is equal to (or less than) the takt time – this means that production will meet customer requirement.

Takt time is a core measure of lean and is often referred to in business improvement programs due to its importance it’s often set as an operational target and is used when carrying out resource planning.
